Description

  • This is a small room on the Council's level, but initially only reachable from the Emerald Level below. You can get a unique piece of armour and the hint where to find a powerful artifact here. The room is guarded by strong monsters.

How to get there

  • You must spend an Emerald key at a locked door near the High Sentinel Golem and the entrance to the Sudden Death area on the Emerald Level to reach the stairs to this room. You can enter this part of the Emerald Level through the pits in the Torture Chamber on the Council Level saving several keys. The Oracle Room is in the north-eastern corner of the level immediately south of the Portal Room on the seventh level.

Interests

  • Monsters need to be slain to obtain most of the treasure here.
  • Items to be found: An empty waterskin, a Magic Purse, a Gaefusilfr Coin, Amber Worm Food, 3 scrolls about Vecna on a bookshelf, one about a prophecy regarding your party on another bookshelf.
  • Unique items to be found:
    • Dragon Head, Helm of Druafang
    • The Oracle teaches you the location where you can find the "Gaze of Fate" Emerald. This works only once! Save your game, press the button, write down the location and go there immediately. If (and only if) you stand at the right place when the gong sounds for the last time, the emerald will appear on the floor. If you use the action "look inside", you will apparently lose the character, allowing you to choose a fifth one from a champion mirror. Subsequently looking into the "Gaze of Fate" with a character will swap this party member with the previously "lost" one. Be aware that the character looking into the gem will vanish with all posessions in the inventory except the emerald, which will be found on the floor, so drop everything you need on yiur active party members to avoid swapping back and forth. This means that you can effectively have five characters (four active and one "hidden"), which offers useful possibilities: you can use the "hidden" character's inventory to store seldom used or very heavy items (exceeding the maximum load doesn't harm the "hidden" person), such as massive amounts of food, reducing the need to return to storage areas; you can enter all four guild leader levels if you choose the right characters; you can rescue a severely injured party member.
      • {6,8,18}: REACH THE TRIBUTE TO THE ORCKIN UPON THE SIXTH GONG.
      • {5,15,14}: REACH THE CENTER OF THE CRYPT UPON THE SEVENTH GONG.
      • {4,24,29}: REACH THE FIRST STEP TO THE TREASURE OF THE DWARVES UPON THE EIGHTH GONG.
      • {3,23,15}: REACH THE AQUANTANA FOUNTAIN IN THE SEWERS UPON THE NINETH GONG.
      • {2,10,6}: REACH THE PURGING CELL OF THE RUSTED TEMPLE UPON THE TENTH GONG.
      • {1,10,9}: REACH THE FOUNTAIN OF WISDOM UPON THE ELEVENTH GONG.
      • {0,18,29}: REACH THE SOUTH SIDE OF THE PIT OF EPHESUS UPON THE TWELVETH GONG.

  • From, then to the Emerald Level: door at {8,27,6} (must be unlocked with an Emerald Key), then upstairs to {7,28,7}.
  • To, then from the Council Level: door at {7,31,10} (must be unlocked from inside with a Square Key)
