Now that all Guild Leaders are available it's time for further planning. Until here I played the first 8 groups.

These will add now Guild Leaders (where possible).

In parallel, I will continue Leif, Iaido, Zed, Gando and M1 also in solo mode (I just create copies of the complete folders as they are now). These are prefixed by "S-" (columns I-M).

Furthermore I'll start 4 new games, with the other characters – one per Guild (Fighters-Wizards, columns O-R). The stuff until unlocking the Guild leaders will be added to part 1.

I copy Leif for another game to add the fifth member of each guild – which come late in the previous four games (game "5", column S).

Finally I fork Leif into three other groups for the Champions of the Crypt. Sonja, who has not yet found a place in the first 4 slots of the other games, will also be added here (columns T-V).

The pits are illusions! If you enter one of the southern pits, you can just sidestep and take the treasures without being disturbed by the mummy!

To get less damage from the poison clouds you can do the following:
1. sidestep in front of the treasures
2. take one item
3. sidestep again
4. put the item into your inventory
5. repeat until you have them all

You can climb down one of the 4 southern pits in the Dwarven Maze to enter the Dungeon Crypt of Amber. Thus you would save a Gold Key – at the cost of being blocked by enemies without an escape. Near the door you see Manacles. Touch them to open the door.

I spend a Gold Key here since I don't know whether my solo groups would survive this (and I think, I have enough Gold Keys in the meantime).

To avoid that anything escapes from here, I hold back the Ettin with the Tree of Fear and Courage (Brandish works rather fine) and try to take out the Skeletons first with Fireballs. Afterwards (sometimes after some sleeping) I work on the Ettin (yes, it's hard work!).

Since there is a wall that can only be opened from the side of the Tomb of Druafang, I think it's best to go down there.

Be careful with the Statues that provide Riddles. You get the Riddle messages only, when you look at them, not when you just pass them by. So, look at all statues, to make sure to get them all.

There are a lot of Ra Doors called Cobwebs on this level. Most of them can be bashed or fireballed. Sometimes they simply vanish after a short time.

Anyway, we don't bother too much here. Why do we have Swords and Fireballs?

Another Important Note: Gigglers in Guilds

During testing Level 6, when I climbed down the pit east of the entrance to Moria and used the teleporter to the Guilds in Level 7 I encountered 2 Gigglers in the Guilds (in another test Vexirks)!!!

As it looks, whereever you go down to Level 7, this activates the Gigglers and Vexirks in the Portal Room and lets them teleport.

I verified this for the following places:
1. Pit to Moria
2. Pit to the Portals Room
3. Stairs down at {6,15,9}
4. Stairs down at {6,15,14}

Especially if you climb down the pit to Moria you can here these guys teleporting away...

I don't want to have Gigglers in the Guilds – especially since there is another teleporter here where they can vanish and you can't follow them...

The Dexhelm gives a Champion Dexterity +10, but he loses 8 Wisdom per minute. Each time Wisdom is lost, the weapon hand of the first Champion (not the one wearing the Dexhelm!) becomes unusable for a short time. So you can equip the Dexhelm to another Champion and put the first one into the second row to be not disturbed during fights.

Furthermore, the champion speaks a lot of strange (or better: silly) stuff when Wisdom is lost. But sometimes (rarely) he might give useful hints, such as "North of the end of the river there is a mechanism to open the flooding gates. Hidden behind a tree.". Same text that you get from the two statues in the Sewers.

Some notes about this:
1. I didn't see a Rope. Was it stolen by a Giggler?!? And not all groups did see Bones...
2. The spell was triggered, but didn't hit me.
3. If you lure a worm here, the fountains get filled! Chani (of course...) will give a hint about this later. Spiders do not work!!!

4. Get more cautious, when only one remains.
5. Sooner or later they will enter the square with the 3 Fountains.
6. There they will teleport away and you get the message "Spell unlocked".
7. You can kill now the remaining ones.
8. In the fountains you will find 2 ZO Liqueurs and the Scroll "Worm Invocation – ZO GOR RA".

Notes:
1. Since you anyway will summon another spider on your way to the Phasing Shower, it might be sufficient to keep only 2 worms alive.
2. Be prepared to be attacked from spiders behind – especially if you did not reduce them before.

Behind the door is a square, that decides what you will find here. If you enter this square first, you find rather good treasures. If the Master Thief enters it first, you find just Bones and useless Scrolls.

Trying getting both the good and the bad treasures does also not work. If you open the door with a SAR Key and later let it be opened by the Master Thief, you only get the good tresures. If you let the door be opened by the Master Thief first and later spend a SAR Key you only get the bad treasures.

Nevertheless I describe both ways, since even the bad one is quite funny.

To make the Master Thief's decisions faster, I do the following sequence:
1. Equip the Branch of Fear and Courage. This will be needed soon anyway.

3. When the Giggler is in front of the door, Brandish him.
4. As soon as he steps onto the Lockpicks square, follow him to block his way back.
5. He takes the Lockpicks and the coin and soon and very soon opens the door. You are teleported away and cannot move for some time, while the Giggler goes through the door.
6. Even if you are fast enough to follow him (which is hard enough, but possible!) - do NOT go through the door!!!
7. If you are lucky and fast, you can see through the door, that the Bag and Gold Key vanish shortly after the Giggler enters their square.

The pressure plate under the door closes it after a short while.

You might not be able to prevent the Giggler from falling through the pit. Thus you don't have time to loot the Treasury room.

You would have two options now:

1. Leaving through the door
If you leave through the door, the pressure plate will close it, and you can't get back their without a SAR Key.

2. Climbing down the pit
If you unluckily land on the Giggler, he will die and you will set free the invisible one. Any idea how to follow an invisible Giggler here...?

6. If you were not fast enough, you have been teleported into the room with the pit to Moria...
7. Otherwise you are blocking the exit now, so that the Leprechauns can't escape.
8. Wait until the teleporter has vanished again – if you accidently kill a Leprechaun on the teleporter's square while it is active, stolen items will be teleported away!
9. Kill the Leprechauns. They drop nothing except possibly stolen stuff.

Important Note: you need grey load!
0. State at the beginning: the first pit is almost always open and closes regularly for a short time. The second pit is open.
1. Step onto the first pressure plate. A Spitter Berry is fired at you and vanishes and the second pit is closed.
2. Looking around you see another pressure plate, a third pit and a green button as mentioned above.
3. Turn south to watch how the pits work.
4. Step back onto the second pressure plate (another Spitter Berry...). The second pit opens. The first one is now closed rather long and opens only shortly. This makes it possible to reach the green button.
5. When the first pit has just closed, run forward and press the green button once. Step back onto the pressure plate immediately. More Spitter Berries are fired at you. The third pit is closed now. The others are in the state described in step 0.
6. Step onto the second (northern) pressure plate. Wait for the Spitter Berry.
7. Heal, if necessary.
8. Wait until the first pit has just opened and closed. Step forward.
9. Wait for the Spitter Berry to hit you (Spitter Berries also seem to influence the pits)!!! Then rush forward 5 steps immediately. Lots of Spitter Berries are fired at you – but finally you stand at the alcove
10. Collect the remaining stuff in the Alcove and some Spitter Berries from the ground. While collecting Spitter Berries on the ground, more Spitter Berries might be fired at you filling up the Alcove again...
11. We worry about the missing Spitter Berries later.

If you step onto the grate and have been at the eastern end before about 6-7 Spiders will appear instead. Best retreat behind the two illusionary walls in the West and fight them from there.

Retreat through the Gnomekin's room is also possible. But be cautious. If you wait for the Cobweb to open, a Spider might be teleported from the square east of you onto the door square! I nevertheless prefer this way, because you could escape up the stairs and then down the pit in the North into the Blue Path Room.

Warning: if you are too slow, they might follow you through the walls! In this case, you can retreat by going up the stairs.

Interlude – The Gaze of Fate




















Now that we have widely cleaned the areas until the Spiders level, it's time for the next big job. We are going to get a special gem called the "Gaze of Fate". This will enable us to hire our fifth party member.

In contradiction to my normal level-by-level approach, I'll do this in a quick and dirty run.

You can get the Gaze of Fate in a room in the 7th level (OK, not really – but this will be stuff for the next interlude...). This room must be accessed via a stairs from the 8th level.

A good path seems to be going down the stairs in the Revenge Room and then climbing down a pit in the Torture Chamber in the South.

A much faster path is using the Elevator to the Mines and there unlock the teleporter to the Officers Canteen with an Iron Key (we have zillions of Iron Keys in the meantime). From there you can reach the Torture Chamber easily.

Summary
The Gaze of Fate enables you to hire a fifth Champion for your party.





















The Gaze of Fate

When a Champion uses the Gaze of Fate it is "hidden" and makes free his slot, so that you can hire an additional one. If another Champion uses the Gaze of Fate it is exchanged with the hidden one.

Warning: the Gaze of Fate drops to the ground when used – sometimes behind you. Don't forget to pick it up again.

A hidden Champion does not suffer from heavy load or poison. He also doesn't need food and water. Thus you can use him as a mule...
